So I’ve just found out some amazing news, and with who else would I talk about it if not you lovely StudentsVille readers. So if you’ve been to the Soho House in one of their 18 locations around the world, you’re gonna like this. In about two years time in Via Brera 19, in front of the Pinacoteca of Brera, they’ll be opening their first Italian location. In the heart of Milan’s fashion district (for all you fashion students that’ll be looking for an apartment I’m gonna advise this as an area to find your accommodation) surrounded by all the fascinating galleries that show off the best in modern and contemporary art. Also just 10 mins away from Via Montenapoleone where you’ll get a chance to find all of the best known high fashion brands, like Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Chanel, Dior, and so on.

Why is Milan the next destination?
I’m going to say that it’s finally been recognized not only as a fashion capital but also as an international hub for creative work in general. You can see this during fashion week, but also during Salone del Mobile, and all the other events that happen frequently in Milan such as Arch Week, Photo Week, Graphic Design Week. This gives way to local creatives to network and find new opportunities in a country that doesn’t invest that much in its new artists.
What is the Soho House?
Not everyone has been, not everyone knows about it. I was lucky enough to be invited there a couple times when I used to live in London and I found the idea to be magnificent. Obviously, if I wasn’t invited I probably couldn’t have had the chance to afford it (lol), but I’ll tell you how the setting was there.
You’ve got a couple of rooms to sleep in, and the rooms are amazing! So yeah, it’s not only a place to grab a drink, you’ve got a great upstairs bit with a terrace were you can grab a nice drink while enjoying the view and maybe have a swim (yep a rooftop pool, unfortunately when I visited it was a bit cold for me to jump in, but some people had the courage and they seemed enjoyed by the whole thing, I mean it is a pool overlooking London), and a restaurant where I remember eating quite well, so imagine how it’s gonna be in Italy.
Soho House Membership Price
Anyway that’s the setting, to enjoy the amenities of Soho House you have to be a member and it’s a fancy place, and with that comes a fancy price tag (we’re gonna talk dollars). So for a year membership, it’s $2,100 a year for one club, so that’s considering the one in your city, and it’s $3,200 a year for access all around the world. If you’re under 27 you can get a 50% discount until you’re 30 and if you’re lucky enough to live in a city that is approved by the Soho House, but doesn’t have a location there (e.g. Aspen, Milan, or Tel Aviv) you pay $2,500 a year.

So it’s almost 2020, and we’re still waiting quite impatiently to know what is the set date we need to jump on the Soho House wagon. In the meantime, if the price range is within your budget, you can start signing up for an Every House or a U27 Every House membership. In the meantime, you’ll be able to visit Soho House Berlin, Soho House Amsterdam, and why not even the original Soho House London. You’re in Europe why not travel it a bit while you wait for Soho House Milan to open.
So get ready for some fancy co-working and drinks at The Soho House in Via Brera in a couple of years!
