It may look like nothing special from the outside, but when you go in, you won’t be let down. A cheap place to shop in Florence, the largest print on the sign above the door simply reads “Abbigliamento,” which literally means, “clothing.” It basically carries knock-offs of the latest, luxury brand styles, meaning you get the same look for a tiny, little fraction of the cost.

The no-frills sign reads: “clothing, shoes, purses.”

The main attraction in this store are the flow-y, baggy pants that Italians are going crazy over this summer.

They’re such a trending commodity because you can wear them in so many ways, and escape the heat without sacrificing fashion. Made out of a light fabric, they let your legs breathe instead of suffocating them like jeans.

What to Wear in Italy: Flowy Pants
Kelsey dresses down her tan pants with a plain black top and simple black flats.

These pants are also super comfortable. It feels like you’re spending the day in pajamas, but in reality, you look like a real, stylish Italian.

A black and white patterned top really make the red ones pop.

You can dress them up by pairing a nicer top with heels or wedges, or you can keep it causal with a t-shirt and flats or sandals.

The pants come in two different styles: pleated, straight down to give your legs a mile-long look; and baggy through the legs and tight at the ankles, which is usually flattering to any body type.

Although the pants are the best find this Summer season, Abbigliamento also has a lot of other great items. When you first walk in, there’s a room filled with all kinds of shoes: flats, wedges, heels, sneakers, boots – again, all the styles you see in the windows on Via Tournabuoni, but actually affordable.

If you’re looking for another trend in Italy this season, it’s the short, floppy, studded or buckle-covered motorcycle boots. Italians are wearing them with shorts, jeans – even skirts.

And besides the great pants and shoe collection, there’s one more Italian Summer must-have at Abbigliamento: the maxi dress. They have a wide selection that’s unique and beautiful. They also have the high-low hemline dresses that are trending full on here in Florence and just getting picked up in the U.S.

Alongside the dresses, they also have skirts and tops, as well as a shorts version of the infamous baggy pants.

Abbigliamento is a great store for tourists on a budget; you can find unique Italian-style clothing at very reasonable prices.

The owner of the store is also very kind but can only speak little English. So, practicing your Italian before you go in would be a good idea. She has beautiful, fun, and unique items that will bring life to anyone’s wardrobe.
